Why should I enroll in this program?
Tattooing truly is a dream job. You will use your creativity daily while helping others to express themselves. Upon completion of this course you will be confident and able to perform efficient, creative tattoos. You will also have the necessary information for ordering supplies and running your own business.
Where are you located?
The Tattoo Learning Center has 2 locations: Albany, New York and San Diego, California.
* Our Albany, NY location is located in the town of Rotterdam, 10 minutes outside of Albany and is 15 minutes from the Albany International Airport, bus station and train station.
* Our west coast TLC location is at: 4849 University Ave. located just outside downtown San Diego. We are 15 minutes from the San Diego International airport.
Is the The Tattoo Learning Center tattoo school licensed?
Yes, The Tattoo Learning Center is monitored and approved as a licensed school by the NY State Education Department.
How many students are in the class?
We have very small classes to allow you individualized guidance. We take up to 6 students per session in Albany, NY and 2-3 students per session in San Diego, CA.
How long does the program last?
The program lasts for 2 weeks. We meet Monday through Friday, school hours are 9am-5pm.
How many tattoos will I do while there?
Most of our students generally get about 2-3 done a day. That translates to approximately 20+ tattoos for your portfolio.
What is the cost of the program?
The cost of the 2 week program is $4800 in Albany, NY (with free lodging) and $4600 in San Diego (lodging is not included).
Do I need any equipment?
No, during the school sessions you will be using all our provided tattoo machines and supplies. You do not need to bring anything to school. We use several different tattoo machines and power sources, etc. so you will be comfortable with different types of equipment.
You will be taking home a brand new, gorgeous professional tattoo machine, included with every enrollment.
Do you provide lodging?
We are able to provide FREE lodging at our Albany, NY location.
We are not able to offer free lodging at our San Diego location, therefore we have offered a small tuition reduction to help with this.
Do I need to be an artist?
Well, it definately helps. You will learn many things such as shading and color theory, but you need to have a good basic hand-eye coordination and a steady hand. Your level of proficiency is what will set you apart from the "crowd".
Do you offer financial aid?
Not at this time, however, we do qualify for the GI Bill and other vocational/disability programs.
Do you accept the GI Bill?
Yes. However, the GI Bill only covers about 1/6 of the tuition :(
Will I have a portfolio when I graduate?
When you graduate from The Tattoo Learning Center you will leave with a DVD which will have digital images of all the tattoos you completed while here to start your portfolio.
Will I be licensed when I graduate?
While you are at The Tattoo Learning Center you will be licensed in the county in which the school is located. However, most importantly, you will need to re-apply for licensing in the county in which you plan to practice. Tattoo Licenses do NOT transfer from one place to another.
